about

This song is about living your life exactly as you want to despite other people trying manipulate it otherwise. I wrote this song in the weeks before I quit a job I had for two years as a mechanic at a chicken factory, it paid well but was disgusting and harmful work and exactly the opposite of where I wanted to be and what I wanted to do with my life and it wore me down so much physically and psychologically. So, this song is about believing in yourself enough to never have to do something that would make you feel that way again no matter if the consequences are that you'll have to go it alone without any of the treasures the other path promised.

lyrics

Everybody's got a plan for me, everybody knows the way it should be. Everybody's got a plan for me, just in a language I can't read.

I'm cutting off my umbilical chord I'm going to be hungry for a little while
but I will feed off of the energy from the crowd and be inspired by their drunken smiles.

Everybody's got a plan for me, everybody knows the way it should be. They're asking about my five year plans and longevity. My five year plan is to be happy (Hey)

Everybody wants to trip you up they want to make you out to be the fool.
They're laying burrs everywhere you walk and your screams will become they're egos fuel.

Everybody's got a plan for me, everybody knows the way it should be. They're asking about my five year plans and longevity. My five year plan is to be happy (Hey)

We've got your best interest in mind and old dreams will disappear with time. You want a house and family and the feeling of security. But I'm having nightmares all of the time, I'm afraid to close my eyes at night and I don't care about a home. I would rather die with a smile, alone.
